Boy, SPD, you've been not around so much, I almost added you to this list!  Cheesy

Anyway, on the bright side, at least it took until almost February for you to have to add something...

The great Johnny Otis passed away last Tuesday, he was ninety. Johnny was very influential in R&B, he produced the song writing dou of Lieber and Stoller's first hit with "Hound Dog" sang by Big Mama Thornton while Elvis was still in high school. He also produced Etta James when she was but fouteen years old. Johnny had a huge hit with the tune "Willie And The Hand Jive".
I still have a copy of the seminal "Cold Shot" album he did in the 70's with his then teenaged son, guitar prodigy Suggie Otis. Johnny was a true rennessiance man, an artist, lecturer, drummer, guitarist, singer, farmer, recognized chef, cultural assistant to governors. big band leader. the list of his accomplishments goes on, and for me so does his memory. All too often I am saddened by the passing of our greats, and I must ask who is carrying this rich tradition of DEDICATION to this art form on to the next generation. To often I see artists gleening what they feel is the gist of a great artists work, without getting to the true heart of where it comes/came from. And in doing so, lose the inspiration entirely. Artists like Johnny and Etta knew.

"Willie and the Hand Jive" is a great song.  I taught all my younger siblings to hand-jive (except maybe one brother who wasn't around that day).   Grin
Some of us are still carrying on the tradition...

Well, FP --

I can assure you I'm still alive and as well as can be under the circumstances.  And am not ready for any DLF list anytime soon, I hope.  Hehehehe!

Truth be told, and quite honestly as I can muster, you could say though I'm on my own "Why Bother?" list of sorts.

Meaning, for those of us who have been here virtually from Day One oh so long ago -- as well as many fine others who have joined and stayed around because this place was a fun place to hang out in -- {Note keyword: was} --

Well, ya'll know that I've been asking for some cosmetic and other changes to better help make this an even easier and more fun place to visit.

Thing is, last year, around the 1st Year anniversary of the forum, I was told by some higher-ups that my ideas and concerns would finally be discussed and probably most likely implemented.

Well, needless to say, that time had passed; nothing more was said, or done.  So I got tired of beating myself over the head and got to the point that if they didn't want to bother with lil ole me, why then should I do the same in return?!

Sure though, I come by here several times every day.  Just in my position of Moderator/Administrator watching out for spam/fake accounts and such. [As well as do the same over at HarmonicaClub.com]

Whether I post anything anymore still remains to be seen.  If they ever do put in the changes I've been asking for, and if I do get myself off the "Why Bother?" list -- Let's hope it doesn't flip over into a "Too Little, Too Late!" rostrum!

I'd say more, but the Pro Bowl is on tonight.  And I'll be getting ready for the Super Bowl next Sunday night.  Don't know if I'm picking the Patriots or the Giants yet.  Will probably just settle for Madonna in the Half-Time Show, if she doesn't screw it up!  Mwuahahahaha!

Laters...

Yeah, understandable.  I was kind of around for a few months before actually setting up an account here, and it was fun.  But, since you're mostly gone, JP's basically nonexistent on here, etc., it's not exactly the same.  Ah, well...

Does this mean we can put the forum on the DLF list?  Grin

I still have a good time here, though I miss Spud's harassment.
I would post more often, but I'm usually reading and posting from a hand-held.  Bummer, man.
Spud, don't you give up.  You birthed this baby, didn't you?  Let's don't let her starve.
Here's to SPD!!!

One harp, one heart, one hair left.

Hey BT! This to shall pass! Haven 't been here in quite awhile, must admit that it was a lt of fun when it first came online. Met a lot of good folks here. Have some become very good harp players. I myself am still mediocre. So this fly is still flying!
