Today the pipe band I play with did a gig at a local event at which around 30K+ people attended. I roved around playing as when asked. One person was a young, like 7, year old blind girl. She wanted to touch the pipes and hear them. She seemed pleased but would have preferred a flute. Later a young boy gave me a chocolate lollipop for my playing.

I have noticed that on YT there is a huge tendency for people to post nasty comments about others' videos. Especially when the performer is young and talented. Bit of jealousy I suspect. I'm often really shocked at how very nasty these comments can be.

Ha! Yes I did not think about Amazing Grace being played before one's passing. Though its become a dirge I think it original conception was as a hymn of repentance to be sung anytime. You can see my band playing Amazing Grace at the memorial for the recent shooting here in Tucson on You Tube. Search bagpipes at UMC. Not a particularly good recording though.

I was not able to attend but you may see the pipe band I belong to playing Amazing Grace at the memorial for the victims of the recent shooting here in Tucson. Go to You Tube and search Bagpipes at UMC. Its a cell phone recording so keep that in mind. Westbrough Baptists are planning to demonstrate at the funerals. They want everyone to know the people shoot and those killed, including a nine year old little girl, deserved it.

Keil Road-Donald Black. This CD was my first international online purchase. The computer took care of the currency conversion very nicely. Donald Black is a friendly Scotsman who developed the Highlander harmonica produced by Hornor Harmonicas. There are 11 tracks, slow airs and Piobroch, traditional Scottish bagpipes tunes. The Highlander is a 20 hole double sided tremelo keyed to A and D. Its tone is deep and mellow. The harmonica playing by Mr. Black is excellent. He is joined by several Scottish musicians including Aly Bain a well known fiddler. The Highlander was developed to allow bagpipe tunes to be played on the harmonica but no does not need to like the pipes to enjoy this CD. Mr. Black can be contacted at donald_black@email.com This site has Donald's CDs and information about the Highlander harmonica. In US dollars I paid about 21.00 and feel entirely satisfied with the money spent.
