Sugar Blue (born James Whiting in New York on December 16, 1949) is a harmonica genius, probably best known for playing on the Rolling Stones single, “Miss You.” A blues rock session player who fronts his own band as a singer/harp player and who tours internationally.

One of the pioneers of tone. He inspired me to experiment with mics, effects and to try guitar tricks on the harmonica. Sometimes you don’t even realize it’s a harmonica playing at first. That’s Sugar Blue. A total innovator, a master of tone and the ability to create beautiful and haunting melodies that sink deep into the unconscious and remain long after the song is over.
