The Suzuki Olive is like many other 10-hole diatonics in most ways. It has stainless steel cover plates, a wood body, and replaceable reed plates. It differs from other brands because Suzuki uses a unique technique of welding their reeds, which is meant to increase accuracy and sound projection. It is also supposed to make note bending easier. While it is possible to bend notes on the Olive, many people seem to think that it’s much easier to bend notes on the similar Hohner Marine Band. The Olive also doesn’t seem to have the same potential for volume as the Marine Band.

PROS

Reed plates can be replaced

CONS

Construction is specifically meant to increase sound volume and quality, yet neither the volume nor sound quality are as good as many other models
