Hohner Big River Harp Harmonica (H590)
Review by JP Allen
The Hohner Big River Harp is an awesome instrument for pros, but if you’re a beginner who is just learning the harmonica, here are two other recommendations:
1. Higher Dollar (professional): My #1 pick is the Hohner Special 20.
2. Economy: If your a beginner who would rather get a more economical harmonica to “test the waters” (i.e. make sure you serious about sticking with harmonica before you invest), the Hohner Blues Band will get you off to a great start.

Don’t get me wrong; the Hohner Big River Harp is a very good instrument for professional harmonica players. But if you’re a beginner, you might find it challenging to learn to bend on this instrument (bending is that soulful wailing sound that has made harmonica famous).
From the Manufacturer:
Push it to the limit like Paul DeLay used to.
This consistently reliable workhorse combines the highest German quality standards at a more affordable price. A plastic combed, MS version of the Marine Band style harp, it is a great everyday companion you can also take to the stage, where it holds its own in blues, rock and country playing.
