Here’s a look at Paul Butterfield Blues Band’s album, Keep On Moving…
The entire album is in 2nd position.
On the title track, jam along in the key of D on a G harp. Listen to the wah wahs he achieves by cupping his hands.
He also uses a G harp in D to play low and slow on Losing Hand. Low harps take more muscle strength. Notice his use of dirt on 4 draw at 1:36, bringing in 5 draw just a sliver.
Where Did My Baby Go plays in the horn player’s favorite key of Bb using an Eb harmonica. Hear how Paul overdubs his harp to create a call and response with his vocals. Listen to his singing. Sense his rests. Play within the rests.
Walkin’ By Myself’s fast flowing work is in the key of E on an A harp. While the song fades out, Paul brings in octaves, intensifying right at the end of the solo!
I hope you are enjoying these as much as I am!
