Song facts: “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” is considered as Judy Garland’s signature song. The song was very nearly deleted from the film The Wizard Of Oz because the producer thought it didn’t sound like a song ‘for a little girl singing in a barnyard’.

Harmonica type: diatonic

 4    7   -7 6 -6   -7  7
Somewhere over the rainbow
 4  -6  6
Way up high
   4    -6  6
There’s a land
 5  -5   6   -6
That I heard of
 -4  -3 4 -4  5 4
Once in a lullaby

 6   5   6    5   6 5  6  5
Someday I’ll wish upon a star
 6   -5  6   -5
And wake up where
 6   -5     6  -5 6-6 -7
The clouds are behind me
  6     5  6    5    6    5 6    5
Where troubles melt like lemon drops
6 -5  6 -5  6   -5  6   -5
Away above the chimney tops
  6     -5    6      -6  -7
That's where you'll find me

  4   7   -7 6 -6   -7  7
Somewhere over the rainbow
 4   -6    6
Bluebirds fly
 5    -6  5 4  -4    5  -5
Birds fly over the rainbow
-4   -3    4    5    4
Why, then why, can't I?

 6  5  6  5  6   5   6     5
If happy little bluebirds fly
6  -5   6   -5  6
Beyond the rainbow
-5   6  -6    -7   7
Why, oh why, can't I?
