    Hi JP,
I am buying a harmonica for a friend who is into music, plays drums and sings with a band.

Actually it is my real estate agent Justin. It is a surprise so I can’t ask what chord to buy. I would like to spend approx $80 to $100. What would you recommend for a beginner who loves music as I do? I appreciate the help. I liked your above summary and might try this myself. After Christmas.
    Regards, Sharon

What a great gift. I would recommend getting a set of Hohners, here is what is currently on sale (the case of 5 is a great deal and has all the keys needed to start out: https://www.harmonica.com/Harmonica_Packs.html
If your looking for a more quality harmonica, I recommend the Hohner Special 20, also found on the website. jp

      1) buy in the chord of C to be safe. Good all around
2)!buy a Lee Oakar or a Suzuki before Hohners.
      3) $100 is the hi hi end for 99% of the harps put there so a suzuki Manji M20 is $55 on sale and could he the best harp of the century the Ads say… Don’t knoe first hand.
The Lee Oskar cost less. (I like spending More so I know I’m getting the best) but cost is minimal.
      4) Don’t buy him a Chromaric which you. Push the button on the side. They’re over your budget and it takes away the simplicity that is a harmonica.
      Lee Oskar – key of C, D,E, Or A.
Let me know what you do or plan on doing

The notes with a dash (-) in front are draw notes, others are blow. Together the blow and draw notes of the harmonica contain the notes of that particular scale. jp
