Review Summary:

The most current Hering Membi is a 12-hole harmonica. Although, in Hering's long history, it has used the name “Membi” more than once. They have reincarnated it at least once to celebrate the company's 90th anniversary. This one is a chromatic harmonica with a black plastic comb. It is held together with screws, which makes replacing the reeds easy. The brass supports help it stand up to a little extra abuse. The name “Membi” means “flute” in Tupi, and that is an appropriate name for this sweet little mouth harp. The sound it makes is light and airy, almost like a flute.

Pros

  • Easy reed replacement
  • Flute-like sound quality

Cons

  • Not worth the cost except to professional players or collectors
